Class Schedule Fall 2008

September 15th - November 23rd, 2008

All Balboa Park Campus classes are held in the Casa del Prado Building. Class specifics are subject to change without notice.There will be no class on November 11th, Tuesday prices have been adjusted accordingly. Registration is accepted through the first week of the session. However, we are strict about class size limits, and classes do fill. Please register early for best selection. Music

Our music classes are taught using live piano music, and may incorporate staging and dance.

Modern Musicals for ages 12-18

Singing students will love learning songs from modern musicals such as Wicked, Into the Woods, Mama Mia and Jersey Boys. Actors will also enjoy creating simple choreography to accompany their songs. Proper singing technique is taught, and students will love working together to create a product for the last class.

Monday Music for ages 5-8

Students in this class will learn basic musicianship, simple note reading and music theory.  Ear training and pitch matching will be addressed while singing popular folk and Broadway songs.  Rhythm instruments and fun games make this class a great introduction to singing and basic musicianship.

A Taste of Broadway for ages 8-10 Register 

Students will come home singing a different Broadway song. This class will expose students to Broadway songs both old and new. Students should come ready to move about and learn simple choreography to each song.  Students will share a medley of songs and dances with family and friends during their Open Sharing on the final day of class.

Singing in the Season for ages 5-7

A great class to take us into the fall season. Students will learn basic musicianship skills and develop basic ear training and pitch- matching while enjoying singing as a group to piano accompaniment. Beginning music theory and terminology in included, as is a performance of songs on the final class day.

Showtunes for Kids for ages 8-11 Register 

This fun singing class will include fun show tunes from Broadway musicals that feature kids. Students will learn songs from Annie, Oliver, Newsies, The Wizard of Oz and others, while practicing proper singing technique. Some staging will be included as students work toward their performance on the final class day.

Musical Mania for ages 9-12 Register 

Kids who love show tunes will love this class. Students will learn a host of songs from popular musicals, both old and new. A great way to learn new audition material! Proper singing technique is emphasized and musical staging will be incorporated. All levels of experience are welcome.

Broadway Kids for ages 5-8 Register 

This class is a first chance for young children to learn to sing Broadway show tunes! Students will learn songs from musicals that feature children, as well as practicing proper singing technique. Some stage movement will be incorporated, as musical numbers are rehearsed for an informal performance.
