San Diego Junior Theatre
Donor Information
Built in 1915 as part of the Pan-American Exposition, the Casa del Prado has served San Diego in many roles. Since its 1971-1972 season and already in its 23rd year of existence, San Diego Junior Theatre has been a primary tenant in the now Casa del Prado Theatre. For the past year, San Diego Junior Theatre has been working on replacing the 30 year-old broken and aged theatre seats as a gift back to the theatre. "To date, we've raised $75,000, enough to replace 300 seats," said Theresa Wulf, Community Relations Director. "We were able to kick off the campaign a year ago with a $20,000 grant from The Parker Foundation, we received a matching grant from The City of San Diego, $2,000 from the Thursday Club and the rest has come from our dedicated families and patrons that know first hand what bad shape the seats were in."

The Casa del Prado Theatre has 650 seats. Each new seat cost $250 for replacement and seat sponsors get a plaque in their family or corporate name. San Diego Junior Theatre offers six mainstage performances in the Casa del Prado each year and is currently in its 55th season.

San Diego Junior Theatre is committed to the encouragement of our city's youth and the development of their creativity, self-esteem and enjoyment of theatre arts. San Diego wishes to thank the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture.
