Welcome to San Diego Junior Theatres 61st Season... a season of magic!
Join us on our two stages as we explore enchanted worlds from
Paris, France to the far reaches of China; from Paw Paw, Michigan
to the wonderful Land of Oz. Whether youre a Munchkin or a
big, friendly giant, JTs season of ten enchanted shows is sure to
conjure up some theatre magic for you!
Desha Crownover, Artistic Director
Plays
This season, we have ten productions on two stages
designed and directed by highly qualified theatre arts professionals featuring the acting,
singing and dancing of our students ages 8 to 18. All other roles, such as stagehands and ushers,
are also filled by our students.
Ten Productions!
Classes
Each year, our education department offers over three hundred
classes in acting, singing and dance to young San Diegans. And weve expanded our programs.
Recently, Junior Theatre has entered into partnerships with the City of Chula Vista and the La Jolla
YMCA, opening two satellite campuses: in South Bay at The Theatre on Third, and in La Jolla,
at the La Jolla Firehouse YMCA Theatre.
Community Outreach
Our community outreach programs are tailor-made to
meet the specific needs of schools, such as our program at Memorial Academy in Logan Heights,
which offers after-school classes free-of-charge.
One of our most successful ongoing community outreach
programs has been our partnership with the St. Vincent de Paul / Toussaint Teen Center, a center
for the homeless. Together, we help hundreds of children discover the joys of self-expression and
creation as they write and develop a full-length musical presentation performed in the Casa del
Prado Theatre.
Junior Theatre Auxiliary
Also, an auxiliary membership of family and friends actively assists
with the productions. Join today!
